About the Role:

The Senior Software Engineer plays a critical role in designing and building scalable software systems that solve complex business and technical challenges. In our Terminals business, we are actively modernising our portfolio of business applications that are at the heart of our operations, such as our Terminal Management System, our customer portal, integrations with our OT layer, and our in-field worker connectivity apps. You will be a key player in driving our digital transformation and developing innovative systems that directly enhance our operations and customer experiences.

You will be part of a global business-led product team that operates with a DevOps mentality. It is a collaborative, diverse, fast-paced environment. The role is hands-on and requires autonomy, innovation, and collaboration, with a strong focus on clean, maintainable, and high-performance code.

You are also responsible for contributing to the overall architecture and strategy of technical systems, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring solutions are aligned with Stolt-Nielsens business and technical goals.

What Youll Do:

• Lead design, development, and deployment of software that meets business and technical requirements.
• Develop full-stack solutions using modern frameworks and platforms.
• Contribute to system architecture, infrastructure design, and service-oriented approaches.
• Guide junior engineers and conduct peer reviews to maintain code quality.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to ensure seamless CI/CD integration and deployment automation.
• Drive innovation by recommending new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Document systems, APIs, infrastructure, and architecture decisions (C4 model).
• Take full ownership of deliverables, resolving complex challenges with innovative and reliable solutions.
• Perform additional duties and strategic projects as assigned.

What Youll Bring:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development and system design.
• Proven experience delivering scalable, reliable, and secure software in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with distributed systems, containerization technologies (such as Docker or Kubernetes), and microservices architectures.
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile delivery.
• Strong analytical thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• A full stack .NET developer must be fluent in ASP.NET Core (Web API, MVC, minimal APIs), C# fundamentals + advanced concepts, Entity Framework Core, Dependency Injection, LINQ, async/await, clean architecture principles
• Strong Knowledge of Angular Core Concepts (framework fundamentals including Components, modules, templates, Dependency injection, Services & Observables, Angular CLI)
• Database & Data Layer Skills - SQL Server, Stored procedures, indexing, query optimization, ORM best practices with EF Core, NoSQL exposure (Cosmos DB)
• Software Architecture & Best Practices - Clean Architecture, Hexagonal, CQRS (Layered application design), Domain-Driven Design (DDD) basics, Unit testing (xUnit, NUnit), integration testing, API versioning, caching, security (JWT, OAuth)

Must Have Skills:

• C# .NET
• Angular, TypeScript
• WinForms (as we migrate to modern platforms)
• GIT and basic understanding of CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (we use Azure DevOps)

Good to Have skills:

• Azure (PaaS components)
